Ladurée for Lanvin: haute confiserie

Apart from his inspired creations for the French fashion house Lanvin, the talented designer Alber Elbaz is now trying to seduce us in a different way. His most recent collaboration is with the famous manufacturer of sweets Ladurée, best known for its macaroons. Elbaz designed a special macaroon set, which contains 8 bubble-gum flavored macaroons and it is adorned with sketches of faces of women. The final touch is a red ribbon that fastens the box.

This “sweet” new reminded us of other successful collaborations that Ladurée has made in the past with fashion designers. Back in 2009, they launched two special boxes one with the fashion house of Marni and the other with Christian Louboutin. Consuelo Castiglioni of Marni decorated her box with polka dots and chose the irresistible flavour of chocolate for her macaroons, while Louboutin created 3 gift boxes that had a trompe l’oeil effect, which gave a hint of the content that had been flavoured with a Mediterranean twist.

In 2010, it was John Galliano’s turn to be tapped in collaboration. He revealed his romantic nature with the flavours of rose and ginger. As for the box, it appears to be covered in stationary with the characteristic Galliano’s logo.

Earlier this year, in order to celebrate their 150 anniversary, they collaborated with the Japanese ready-to-wear designer Tsumori Chisato (March 2012). Chisato was inspired by the cherry blossom and a scented candle was also included in the set.

Other fashion collaborations were with Sonia Rykiel and Christian Lacroix.

Hold on until 25th of September when the Lanvin set will be on sale in Paris and on 28th in U.K., U.S. and Japan.
