Lady Gaga in Eddie Gavriilidis

We learnt about him when the priestess of pop music, Lady Gaga worn the “Ecstasy of Mary Therese” dress –inspired by Bernini’ s masterpiece- especially designed for his graduation collection from the famous St. Martins College. But Eddie’s career is more than that.

He also studied and graduated from the Marangoni Institute- another temple of fashion- and, although only 24 years old, he has already worked with Tom Ford and Alexander McQueen. And, just for the record, he has been also nominated at the WGSN Global Fashion Awards for “Most Creative Student Collection”. Somewhere between Venice, London and Athens, we found Eddie and we asked him to create his own scrapbook with all of his summer favourites.

Interview: Marina Zamzara

The holidays I remember the most….
…are those with my family at Syros. My mother comes from there, so we went every summer. Syros is the most beautiful island of the Cyclades; the Town Hall designed by Ernest Chiller, the Theatre, miniature of Milano’s Scala, the churches, both orthodox and catholic, the alleys; they all compose an absolutely majestic scenery.

My favorite summer destination is…
…a road trip to the French and the Italian Riviera. Always with good friends!

The most stylish hotel in the world is…
…the Bulgari Hotel at Milano –for an aperitif at its gardens-, the La Mamounia Hotel at Marrakesh- for the great reinvention of the Arabic architecture- and, of course, the small boutique hotels at the Greek islands for their excellent breakfast and the magnificent view to the sea and the sun.

When I lay on the beach I always listen…
… to Pink Martini.

My favorite summer habit…
…laying on the beach, under the sun all day long and watching old movies at the Thissio open air cinema.

The hot (fashion) item for this summer is…
Linen and silk trousers, beaded swimwear… All you need really is a stylish swimsuit and a big pair of sunglasses.

A summer inspiration could be…
“Talented Mr. Ripley” and Mykonos of the 60’s and 70’s

This summer I’m going to…
I have already visited Venice for work and it was amazing! Of course, I am going to Athens, which I love, especially during the summer. I am looking forward to eating and drinking ouzo to small “tavernas” by the sea, listening to the sound of the cicadas!

and I’m going to take with me…
… my printed silk trousers, a swimwear and “Death on the Nile” by Agatha Christie.

The best summer is the one that…
…is coming… and it will always be…
