Peter Pan Collars

Can you be a child and a woman at the same time?

Yes, you can!

Peter Pan collar is a flat, round-shaped collar. It is named after the collar of the costume worn in the 1905 by actress Maude Adams in her role as Peter Pan. Similar collars had already been on the 1902 comic book character Busty Brown, while it was already fashionable in France as ‘ le col Claudine’ after the publication of Colette’s novel ‘Claudine a l’ecole’ in 1900.

In the 1920s, the Peter Pan collar was a standard for little girls’ dresses while in the 1930s and the 1940s was part of women’s wedding dresses. Nowadays, fashion houses like DKNY and Louis Vuitton adopted the Peter Pan collar look which made a huge revival in the fashion world.
