Major changes are happening to the famous French house, with newly appointed creative director, Hedi Slimane, changing the brand’s name from Yves Saint Laurent to Saint Laurent Paris. It is common for a new director to be making changes -that’s the point after all- but such drastic moves were never seen in the fashion world. The inspiration for this extreme makeover came from the year 1966, when the first ready-to-wear line was introduced under the name Saint Laurent Rive Gauche. The news was confirmed yesterday by spokesperson of the house to WWD, so from now on Saint Laurent Paris is the official name. The iconic logo will remain the same for obvious reasons. A new era for YSL has begun.
