Interview to Adriana Paraskevopoulou

How did you decide to become a fashion designer?

I was working for various clothes companies and I was watching the process of making clothes: patterns, fabric cutting, sewing and the final result. Not long after that, I decided to go to Veloudakis Fashion School. And that’s how it all began.

Which were the difficulties encountered at the beginning of your career?

It’s not easy to create your own brand. You start from scratch, with no costumers. The most important and at the same time the most time-consuming procedure is to choose the right collaborators. I love working in groups, in a nice environment setting with great energy.

How can you describe the woman you dress?

Independent, powerful, with a strong personality. I like it when a customer has an opinion about my clothes. This means that she knows exactly what she wants. She goes against the obvious.

What inspires you?

Anything can be an inspiration. I observe everything around me. The idea comes first and then I develop it creatively in my mind. A few years ago, in Portugal, I saw some black tulips and then I created the “Black Flower” collection.

Which was the inspiration for your last collection?

The reaction. Especially, the reaction concerning the crisis we endure in our everyday life. I like to express myself through my work. I wanted to design clothes that look as if a hand tugs them. As a result, we created pleated and oblique clothes.

Why did you name this collection “One way or another”?

I came up with this title during the preparation of the collection. The clothes characterized by a 360°- motion, they are making a twist and it’s difficult to understand where is the beginning and where is the end. It depends on which side you choose; one way or another!

Which are your dreams?

The consolidation of the brand and its promotion in Greece and abroad. Also, I don’t want to lose my creative identity. When people identify my clothes, this is what I call “success”.
