Nineties-style straight

Think a glossy finish, poker-straight ends and a precise centre parting – Guido Palau’s Nineties-style hair at Versace feels just right against summer’s whimsical pastels.

Dishevelled up-do

Weddings, parties, dinners – or just another day in the office – any summer event could be made all the prettier with a gorgeously dishevelled up-do like those Anthony Turner created at Erdem, inspired by women emerging from a shipwreck. Loosen some strands around the face – this look shouldn’t have too perfect a finish.

Bleached out

Guido Palau bleached the hair of more than 20 of the models at Alexander Wang, creating summery surfer-style waves ideal for holiday season. Would you take the plunge?

Eighties side ponytail

Spring/summer 2017’s fashion had a strong Eighties feel to it, and the hair by Sam McKnight at Chanel followed suit. This summer’s ponytail should be fastened low on one side with a fluoro band – you can skip the baseball cap if you like.

Natural curls

If you’re blessed with natural curls, embrace them. Nothing looked cooler on the spring/summer 2017 catwalks than a bounty of beautiful curls – whether Mica Arganaraz’s shoulder-length brunette style or Lineisy Montero’s cropped afro. See Proenza Schouler, where Arganaraz’s hair was the perfect foil for the season’s oversized earrings.

Skinny plaits

There’s nothing like skinny plaits hidden amongst loose, Seventies-style waves to give off that bohemian, festival vibe. Use the styles Eugene Souleiman created at Roberto Cavalli as your inspiration
