The glamorous multi-day event and collab mark significant milestones for Riri, who’s never released a collection of fine jewelry before and will also be showing her first feature at the festival this year. The singer-come-actress is starring in director, Luc Besson’s sci-fi action movie, Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets.
According to an exclusive report by WWD, Ri worked closely with Chopard’s creative director Caroline Scheufele on the nine-piece capsule of jewelry. The collection will feature original designs as well as reimagined Chopard classics, and was inspired by the superstar’s home country of Barbados. The release will be limited, with only 2,000 editions of each design. As part of Chopard’s on-going Journey to Sustainable Luxury Initiative, the collection will be made exclusively from ethically-sourced stones.
The collab is a unique moment for Chopard, which is best known for its classic aesthetic. “You can feel her unstoppable energy, strong creativity, and inherent sense of design in every piece,” Scheufele said in a statement to WWD. “With her unique style, she redefines the way people see and wear jewelry.”
