Rihanna, as, from now on, the new Creative Director of PUMA, merges her unique taste to music and fashion, her adoration for Japanese street culture, and of course the classic PUMA style. As an outcome, we have two fabulous collections FENTY PUMA by Rihanna, for Fall/Winter 2016 and Spring/Summer 2017, that everyone talks about.
Rihanna became Creative Director of PUMA overseeing direction of the womenswear line in December 2014, and within a year she launches her very first FENTY PUMA collection, last season during New York Fashion Week. The color palet that she uses, for the most part, is black and white and the mood that she sets is very gothic. Witchy looks all over the catwalk such as hoods, capes, sneaker-stiletto boots and extraordinary platinum hairstyles and make up. All that expertly combined with tribal jewels , provocative transparency and fancy details , every single piece of the FENTY x PUMA by Rihanna. “If the Addams Family went to the gym, this is what they would wear,” said Bad Gal Riri backstage after the show.
“I’m inspired by attitude more than anything,” she said. “Literally from my album to my collection, everything has been stemming from what makes me feel something, what moves me.”
For her last Fashion Show, at Paris Fashion Week, she chooses the Hotel Salomon de Rothschild, a stately 19th-century mansion, a place not at all random, as she found her inspiration to a very close to it place; the Palace of Versailles. As RiRi said, these were clothes that Marie Antoinette might wear in a parallel universe, where state-of-the-art gyms and whale-boned corsets lived side by side. For her second FENTY PUMA collection she uses various pastel-hued and floral patterns, deconstructed bustiers and corsets were tied together with lace and worn over dresses. Pale pink is the main color of the collection; pale pink fans, pale pink lace gym shorts, pale pink sheer anoraks covered in ruffles and worn with matching pink killer heels. Pink baseball caps tied up in ribbons and pink peplum hoodies , bucket hats and doo-rags, while crystal and pearl necklaces, chokers, crosses and diamond rings lodged in models’ mouths.
Sportwear has never been more glam and it’ss definitely not only activewear, not anymore.
She has fairly earned the tittle “Queen of street style” long ago and she proved it once more.
