It’s this time of the year that the idea of baked cookies and apple pie with cinnamon, hot beverages and punches, decorated stores and roads, people in malls shopping all day and we’re all waiting for the new campaigns of the fashion brands that make us feel impatience. Yes, you’re right and I have the same thing in my mind, Christmas is coming! And because we need to feel the Christmas spirit Burberry is here to help us.

On the 3th of November 2015 Burberry hosted an event at 121 Regent Street flagship store in London for the premiere of the Burberry festive film. The three-minute festive film is the Christmas advertising campaign for 2015 and the story is based on the Billy Elliot movie with music by T. Rex “Cosmic dancer”, the soundtrack of the movie. Chief Creative and Chief Executive Officer Christopher Bailey said that celebrating 15 years of Billy Elliot through the Burberry campaign wanted the film to have something that is joyful, something that makes you smile, celebrates a craft which is dancing and talks to different generations, something with Christmas spirit –a little special moment- but very iconic Burberry.

The campaign includes a cast of British actors, models and musicians. The stars are James Bay, Romeo Beckham, James Corden, Michelle Dockery, George Ezra, Rosie and Toby Huntington-Whiteley, Sir Elton John who also wrote the music for Billy Elliot the musical, Naomi Campbell and Julie Walters the original Billy Elliot cast member. It is remarkable the fact that the stars who took part in the film donated their fees for Place2Be and the Country Durham Community Foundation, the two charities that Burberry decided to donate also a significant amount of money.
After this year’s festive film launch I couldn’t resist watching the last year’s one. Let me remind you the story! It was a tale of a young couple falling in love in a theatrical backdrop of London inspired by the golden age of cinematic musicals. I’m sure that you want to see it once again! The story was usual but the way it was presented by Burberry was totally unique. On the other hand I perceive this year’s story as special as last year but with a more classic approach.

Well, the christmas film of 2015 is all about the meaning of the story as Christopher Bailey said “Billy Elliot is an important film for me, I love the story of somebody who despite everything they succeed because they follow their passion. We wanted to be sure that we do some good for the world as we created this film.” I will also remind you the great Burberry Prorsum monogrammed poncho of Fall/Winter 2014 and I will tell you that in 2015 film all stars wear Scottish-woven cashmere scarves monogrammed with their initials in deep red and nude tones. Burberry I want my PA initial scarf too!

The connection of the past-present-future is considerable and we should always have in mind what we really need and what makes someone unique is the message that I received from 2015 Burberry’s festive campaign.
Ending this article with the next few lines from the movie Billy Elliot (2000), & if you feel the same way…dance!
– … “Can I just ask you, Billy, What does it feel like when you’re dancing?”
– … “I sort of disappear. Like I feel a change in my whole body.
Like there’s a fire in my whole body.
I’m just there… …flying… …like a bird.
Like electricity. Yeah… …like electricity.”
