Two weeks ago I found myself wondering in the streets of rainy Paris. The purpose of visiting the city of light was no other than the exceptional Master of Couture, Mr. Jean Paul Gaultier, of course!
In the beginning of every July Paris is filled with noumerous key figures of the fashion world, who get there for the biggest fashion event of all: the Parisian Haute Couture week, a.k.a the crem de la crem of fashion.
From the city, to the designers’ collections and attendants everything looks literally breath-taking and utterly gorgeous, this time of the year.
It was a great honor being asked again to walk for Jean Paul Gaultier’s couture show. My dear friend and head stylist of the house of Gaultier, Konstantinos Katalakinos arranged all the details and helped me with everything, making sure that all would strive to perfection!
After a day of fitting, the big day arrived. Backstage is always the most fun experience. Extensive hair (we wore wigs) and make up took started from early in the morning and we all rolled laughing but feeling anxious at the same time. The moment was there. Lights, camera, action – you’re out on the catwalk.
Perfect atmosphere, music, all eyes on you eager to discover what else the “enfant terrible” so blissfully created, time stops when you’re on the catwalk.
Take a look here:
Dracula’s mistresses, vampires and goth queens were Jean Paul’s Inspiration for the Fall Winter 2014-15 couture collection. Black and red were the dominant colors, whereas some sparkling embellished pieces highlighted the artistry of the clothes.
The surprise of the day was no other than singer Conchita Wurst, this year’s Eurovision contest winner, who dressed in a gown walked down Gaultier’s catwalk for the show finale -and the crowd went wild of course.
Jean Paul doesn’t just create collections and fashion shows, he creates stories. And I am really thankful and for being part of one.
