Paris is the heart of fashion this time of year. Along with Paris Fashion Week, fashion lovers can enjoy the big reopening of Palais Galliera and welcome the ultimate show of the season – a tribute to Tunisian designer Azzedine Alaïa. 74 memorable dresses are to be presented within the newly renovated museum in a scenography created by French designer Martin Szekely, while the Matisse Room is to showcase art near and dear to the creator’s heart.

Olivier Saillard, director of Palais Galliera and curator of the exhibition, commented on the master designer: “The word sexy is not savage enough when it comes to Alaïa. We need a new word. He is like a plastic surgeon, but with scissors. It’s an incredible body of work. Only a truly great designer can get away with repeating himself for forty years. Owning an Alaïa is like having a Hermès bag. You transmit it from one generation to the next.”

*The exhibition “Alaïa” runs from September 28 through January 26 at Palais Galliera, 10 avenue Pierre 1er de Serbie, 75116 Paris. For more information, please visit the official site of the Musée de la Mode de la Ville de Paris here.
