Or else: The English Rose on the catwalk
Text: Mariangela Stella
Christopher Bailey presented a romantic collection for Spring 2014 during London Fashion Week inspired by the English Rose. Sweet pastels, dusky pinks, mint green, lavender, mauve, and pale yellow draw the color palette for the following spring. Lace, silk and cashmere were the basic materials that Bailey used to design clothes for strong but romantic women. Loose lines, lacy pencil skirts combined with see-through shirts and completed with fluffy knits dominated the catwalk. Voluminous outwear, cardigan jackets and suede coats reminded us why Burberry is still the master of stylish outwear. Jeweled belts emphasized the waist models, whereas embellishments could be found all over the skirts. The show closed Cara Delevigne wore a pink pencil skirt, latex and rhinestones.
