The top 5 ad campaigns for spring-summer 2012
Karl Lagerfeld was the designer and photographer of Chanel’s underwater inspired collection campaign, shot in South France, with Joan Smalls and Saskia de Brauw starring. The designer aimed to light up the outfits with a sea pearl essence and added to the traditional Chanel with graphic shapes.
Diane von Furstenberg showed optimism with total white, floral and menswear-inspired with a dose of Dali’s surrealism and something-for-everyone outfits. The ad was shot by Camilla Akrans and shows models whose faces are replaced by mirrors in order to reflect the sky, in order to focus on the outfit.
Salvatore Ferragamo’s house designer, Massimiliano Giornetti, focused on tropical yet tribal motives, and classy met cool. The campaign was shot in Jamaica by Mikael Jansson with the top model Gisele Bundchen and Noah Mills starring in it.
LOUIS VUITTON’s sweet collection was full of candy colors, organza broderie anglaise dresses and matte crocodile motorcycle pastel jackets. The spirit was reflected in the ad as well, with Steven Meisel photographing Daria Strokous and Kati Nescher and capturing the sweetness, lightness and romantic tone of the runaway.
Miuccia Prada combined women with cars, and she created a men’s world with the sweet tone of the outfits’ feminine details. Steven Meisel captured this contradiction with the models Kati Nescher, Meghan Collison, Natasha Poly, Elise Crombez, Ymre Stiekema & Kathryn Kruger posing in a gas station with a ‘50s elegance.
