Every year the store Opening Ceremony choose to cooperate with the most avant-garde and provocative fashion brands from all over the world. For Fall-Winter 2013-2014 has been selected the unconventional, yet classic, Himalayan unisex sneaker by Bernhard Willhelm.
Bernhard Willhelm, a German designer that graduated from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of Antwerp (Belgium), has been characterized by his non-conformist fashion sense. With his great sense of humor, challenge the boundaries of footwear, resulting in an innovative shoe shape.
The Himalayan sneaker was first created for brand’s Fall-Winter 2010-2011 collection. This name is due to the quirky design of its sole: a zig-zag structure that represents a mountain range like Himalayas.
This year Opening Ceremony selected one of the most representative Willhelm’s prints from his Spring-Summer 2006 ready-to-wear collection. It is a funny and bold cartoon-style hallmark. Little, cute dinosaurs playing in the snow and have fun: snowboarding, skiing and sledging. Made of rubber, polyester, cotton and leather this grey, black and white sneaker is laced up with thick, rope shoelaces.
This unique and unpredictable model is exclusively designed for Opening Ceremony and it will be on sale from September by concept stores in New York, London, Tokyo and Los Angeles as well as at www.openingceremony.us
