SUMMER VINTAGE: Roman Holiday

Audrey Hepburn strolling in the Eternal City in a romantic comedy of three Academy Awards and inimitable style.

Text: Mary Giatra

In this 1953 movie starring Gregory Peck and Audrey Hepburn, Ann (Hepburn) is a frustrated and sheltered princess that runs into Joe Bradley (Peck), an American reporter who lives and works in Rome. Their meeting will lead to a comic adventure and to a fine cinematic romance as well.

“Roman Holiday” turned Audrey Hepburn to a star. The Oscar winning costumes of Edith Head matched well with the beauty of Rome and the fragile elegance of Hepburn who was only 24 years old at the time. Her performance led to her winning the Academy Award and is one of the most unforgettable of all times.

The movie’s style has inspired many editorials and is considered to be classic. Watch the movie and feel the love and the drama. Adopt the style with full skirts, tight shirts and ballerinas, the ultimate choice for an Audrey Hepburn inspired summer look.
