Tilda Swinton comes from an Anglo-Scots family and with her porcelain skin she is just perfect for Lagerfeld’s Prefall collection, which was inspired by Mary Queen of Scots.

Tilda Swinton, the Oscar nominated actress, was announced as the newest face of the House, after the collection was unveiled at the Chanel Métier d’Arts annual fashion show held at the Linlithgow Palace in Scotland, in December of 2012. Karl Lagerfeld, the so called “Kaiser of Fashion” and creative directon of Chanel, thought that Tilda would perfectly embody the Paris-Edinburgh collection.
“She is of course Scottish, but more than that, she is a modern woman, a timeless icon of elegance”, said Lagerfeld, when he was asked about the choice of Swinton.
The scenery consists of a backdrop of medieval tapestries, tartan and ornate embellishments, that bring a new twist to the transitional season.
The campaign was shot by Lagerfeld himself, at the Château d’Ecouen, a Renaissance-period castle located near Chantilly, in France.
The looks chosen, include celtic style broaches and belts, thick wintry cable knits and lots of high necks and wide cuffs with checked detailing and bold, military buttons.
The imagery has just been completely released in fashion publications and it is absolutely breathtaking.
