As we have mentioned again, 1960s are a huge trend for Spring/Summer 2013. We have seen it in major brands such as Louis Vuitton, Prada, Moschino and Marc Jacobs and we are already in the mood of this “crazy” decade.
The youth played an important role in the formation of society back then and changed the mentality of the world with its choices. They were constantly inspired by music and, in return, music influenced them to keep going.
Mods, rockers and later in the decade hippies, everyone contributed to the music history and left behind songs that are widely heard until today and have been an inspiration for many contemporary bands and artists.
The Beatles were formed in late 1950s, but they had become popular worldwide until early 1960s, causing the effect called “Beatlemania”. With their characteristic mods style, Beatles were loved by everybody and left their mark in history forever.
Another band, The Kinks, formed also in Britain in 1960s, was one of the most important groups of the era, with singles like Lola, Sunny Afternoon and You Really Got Me.
On the other hand, the rockers were represented by The Rolling Stones that begun their career also in the 60s as mods, but soon changed their style as we know them today.
Twiggy was certainly the face of the decade and Grace Coddington was also a great model in those days, posing for Vogue and the famous 5-point cut by Vidal Sassoon.
The 1960s was a decade of social and sexual revolution, leading in ground-breaking changes in fashion and music that gave people food for thought for many years after.
