Donatella Versace recruits Britain’s new talented designer, J. W. Anderson, in the re-launch of Versus line
There was a buzz in the world of fashion from the moment that Donatella announced the collaboration with Anderson for a capsule collection. Would it be characteristic Versace style or would the young British designer change the look of the line?
Fortunately, a mix of both designers’ style was incorporated in the new collection. Versace’s sexy “attitude” was present and Anderson’s androgynous touch was also visible. Skin-tight forms, cropped tops and a black tight dress with a cut-out on the shoulder for men, was very much alike to the women’s clothes of the collection. At the meantime, safety pins and gold buttons reminded us the glory days of the brand.
Versus, was created in the 1990s, so in the launch of the anticipated collection, the decade of the cool kids and the clubbers played an important role in the formation of the line. Bright colours, like intense blue, pink, orange and yellow captivated the audience, while the classic combination of black and white balanced the final result.
After the show, the place changed into a night club with performances by Grimes, Angel Haze and Dead Sara.
