There’s no perfect such thing as a perfect wedding dress -if there is no perfect dress.

“Every woman dreams of that day. You have to go the extra mile and fulfill that dream to make something that a woman will fall in love with”, observed Oscar De La Renta in the show-notes for his Spring 2014 collection at New York Bridal Market. It was a collection to dream about. Silky organza, soft tulle and Chantilly lace were the three main ingredients to fulfill this fairy-ish collection. Silver embroidery and sequined embellishment were perfectly along with the rather odd pop of pastel colours shake things up a bit.
On the contrary, Vera Wang was a less romantic than Monsieur De La Renta. The collection she showed in the New York Bridal Market was rather edgy. White gowns with tough geometric patterns in black were combined with full-length leather gloves. Volume and layers created a rather majestic silhouette though they were much “modest” -meaning simple- dresses. Silk crepe, Chantilly lace and silk faille in ivory and black tones stood out.
