After Nicolas Ghesquiere’s departure from the French fashion house, the designing team was called to create the Pre-Fall 2013 collection. Captured in a transitional period of Balenciaga, the team had to cope up with Ghesquiere’s forward creations and clear the ground for the arrival of the new creative director, Alexander Wang.
The task certainly wasn’t easy. But the team gave us a taste of what is going to follow. Cropped pants, tailored coats and vintage bohemian prints, all in a sportive mood, they might hadn’t the sci-fi effect of Ghesquiere’s clothes, but they were certainly impressive. For example, a bejeweled dress was taken from Cristobal Balenciaga’s Fall 1966 collection and brought in today with a pair of black slim pants, as well as many other classic pieces that were interpreted for this collection. Moreover, the fabrics that were used were only natural. Certainly, not bad at all for a new start.
