Philippe Starck loves nostalgia and sentimentality and draws inspiration from his childhood memories, in order to create a whole new series of furniture called “uncles and aunts”.

“My family of Kartell ‘uncles and aunts’ is the minimalist technological version of the armchairs and sofas where my uncles and aunts used to sit smoking their pipes or knitting by the fireplace in total peace and serenity”, he said about the pieces that come in a range of colors.

According to the manufacturers of Kartell, the designer has used a very technologically advanced technique, in order to develop the world’s largest single-piece injection moulding and each member of the Uncles and Aunts series is made of polycarbonate.

The collection was shown at the Salone Internazionale del Mobile in Milan, receiving dithyrambic reviews. Have a look!
