Daft Punk, old friends with the creative director of the house, Hedi Slimane, have worn his clothes for years, before they cooperate professionally. Their collaboration started a few months ago in October 2012, when they were commissioned to create the soundtrack for Slimane’s inaugural fashion show for Saint Laurent. Everybody who attended the show said that the music was just perfect, featuring the late blues artist Junior Kimbrough. You can check the soundtrack here.
March 2013: Slimane creates the band’s stage wear, interpreting his iconic slim-cut jacket paired with black sequins and name it Saint Laurent Black Glitter “Le Smoking” Jacket.
Last Friday at Coachella and one day later in Saturday Night Live video, the electro duo was seen wearing the jackets and Pharrel Williams, who was featured in the video wore the same attire. In this video they perform Get Lucky, a song from Daft Punk’s new album Random Access Memories that will be released on May 21st.
Now, there is only left to see who will be the next artist to be featured in Saint Laurent Music Project.
