A Boy? A girl? Or a Fabulous Model?

Andrej Pejić is a 21 year-old male model, born in Tuzla, Bosnia and Herzegovina. His parents divorced shortly after his birth and during the Bosnian war, he fled to Serbia with his brother, Igor, his grandmother and his mother. After the 1999 NATO bombing of Serbia, his mother felt insecure and in 2000 the family moved to Melbourne, Australia. Andrej was eight years old.

Rumour has it that Andrej was scouted when he was 17 years old while working at McDonald’s but also, it has been reported that he was scouted at a swimming pool when he was in high school in Melbourne. The extraordinary thing about Mr. Pejić is his androgynous style, as he has the remarkable ability to model both for male and female clothes.

We first saw him in Paris Fashion Week on January 2011 when he walked for Jean Paul Gaultier both at the men’s and women’s shows. Of course, he appeared in the Spring/Summer 2011 JPG campaign, alongside Karolina Kurkova. The same year, he appeared in the Marc by Marc Jacobs campaign.

Fashion loved him immediately! Since September 2011, he ranks No.18 on  models.com “Top 50 Male Models” list. Also, a couple of days ago Andrej appeared in the video of David Bowie’s brand new single ‘The stars (Are out tonight)’. We are sure we are going to talk about Andrej Pejić for a long time.
