OZ THE GREAT AND POWERFUL
We couldn’t feel more excited about a movie premier than how we feel about “Oz the Great and Powerful”. Inspired by the original book, director Sam Raimi takes us to the land of Oz with the prequel of the all time classic 1939 film. James Franco, Mila Kunis, Rachel Waist and Michelle Williams star at this marvelous adventure that you should not miss! At movie theaters from March 7th.
WORLD JAZZ FESTIVAL
This year, Cine Kerameikos is hosting the World Jazz festival from March 8th to 10th. The “Astronauts” group will set this 3-day celebration in a New Orleans atmosphere, that will also have a touch of traditional macedonian carnival. Three days of music, fan and a lot of jazz. Don’t miss it!
IRANIAN WOMEN DIRECTORS
Michael Cacoyannis Foundation has organized a special exhibition entitled “Unexposed” dedicated to female artists and the contemporary Iranian art. A two-day cinematic tribute that will host 9 Iranian women directors -many of whom have received international awards- will take place on March 9th and 10th, examining the place of women in today’s society of Iran. A truly interesting proposition that should capture your attention.
Visit the MCF website for more info about the tribute.
TOM WAITS WEEK
“La Soiree De Votanique”, the beloved athenian bar, celebrates a Tom Waits week. From March 4th until March 10th, DJ sets, live concerts, debates, documentaries and even wall painting are organized to honor the renowned 64-year-old artist who has been informed about the event and has already given his blessing.
