MFW: Dolce & Gabbana and Marni

DOLCE & GABBANA

Their inspiration was Monreale, a Byzantine empress. Dolce & Gabbana used the golden mosaics of Sicily’s Cathedral as a pattern for their fall/winter 2013 collection. Embroidered mosaic gold dresses with mural prints gave you the feeling that you were in a Catholic Church, whereas the shapes were influenced by the 50s. One of the best pieces from the whole collection was the lacy dresses in cardinal red. Bold accessories, such as crown headpieces, huge cross earrings and delightfully playful shoes complete the looks. For the non-boldly, skirtsuits and coats in grey colour. At the finale the catwalk caught went on fire with a parade of red dresses.

MARNI

This season Marni’s collection took us into a winter forest. Furs are a Girl’s Best Friend. The whole collection was all about fur. Luxury fur as scarf, as gloves, fur in coats, collars to dresses, in flat boots, fur everywhere.  Masculine flannels and tweeds were cut into strict, angular silhouettes, diagonally zipped, and paired with riding boots. We loved the A-line dresses and skirts for evening. I don’t want to repeat myself, but once again we admired Ros walking down the catwalk.
