Nicholas Kirkwood, the 33 year old footwear designer, wins the BFC/Vogue designer Fashion Fund, thanks to his promising business plan which impressed the committee.

BFC/ Vogue Designer Fashion Fund winner for 2013 has been revealed: Nicholas Kirkwood. The designer was chosen from a list of five (which was also including Mary Katrantzou), thanks to his innovative business plan that was presented by his partner Christopher Suarez.
The talented shoe designer will receive a prize of £200,000 and a guiding line from the leaders in british fashion industry, to work on his goals for the next 18 months.
The aim of the Fund is to assist UK based designers with the potential for commercial growth, so that a developing business becomes a global fashion brand.
Nicholas Kirkwood has created catwalk shoes among others, for Ghost, Erdem and Rodarte, with whom he collaborated so that he could raise money to create his own collection.
His shoes are famous for the architectural lines and for the wide range of materials that he uses, including devoré satin, hand-printed suede and leather, degradé fabrics, python, cobra and rubberised leather.
Among his devoted fans we find Rihanna, Beyonce, Miranda Kerr and the ultimate shoe lover, Sarah Jessica Parker.
