Profile in Style: Joanna Hillman

We always love women in charge, but when they have a great sense of style we fall in love with them immediately.

It is quite difficult to give a more informal and playful note to office-style outfits but Joanna Hillman seems to do it always just right. In case you were wondering, she is the Senior Fashion Marketing Editor in Harper’s Bazaar, and she is based in New York. This Toronto-born fashionable careerist, has come a long way since her time studying Art History at the University of Western Ontario, located in rural Canada. She was Lori Goldstein’s assistant for many years, where she was exposed to the world of high-fashion, working with international photographers.

After some years, she became Senior Fashion Market Director at Teen Vogue, a title she held for three years, coverting both American and Italian markets. After that and until now she works, as we said, in Harper’s Bazaar, contributing to the great fashion pages we see on the magazine’s USA edition.

Her style is usually everyday-casual, and women who wouldn’t dare to do a lot experiments in this area, are able to take a lot of inspiration from Joanna’s outfits. She loves layers, when the weather allows it she combines perfectly patterns and colors, and usually if the outfit has muted hues, she puts on something in a bold color. She loves oversized bags -who woman doesn’t?- and she keeps the rest of the accessories to the minimum.
