Dior Pre-Fall 2013

Classic Dior, reinvented

It is the first pre-fall collection that Raf Simons is presenting as head of the couture house of Dior. Through his luxurious designs we see that he is giving a whole new sense to Dior  style. Casual daywear meets glamour sophistication.

Total white, black or grey looks have the biggest part in the collection but we also see blasts of colour in details; bright pink, yellow, red and cyan make the outfits more playful and visually interesting. The classic Dior Bar jacket comes in a new version, with less padding on the hips, paired with loose pants. There is also a mix-and-match in the use of fabrics, as satin skirts are paired with simple cashmere T-shirts and layering with knits.

The most impressive characteristics of the collection are the edgy, clear cuts of the suits, the floor-length drapery of the belts over the pants that add volume, the assymetries of the long skirts and dresses and the oversized futuristic neckpieces and cuffs.

Raf Simons made another breakthrough for Dior house: denim, dyed in dark shades and cut into different styles of jeans, jackets and coats. “I wanted to continue exploring the Dior codes we started establishing”, he said.
