Life is a circle they say… Miranda Kerr might have just dethroned Kate Moss from being Mango’s face but Queen Kate, age 39, is now here, taking the place of Natalia Vodianova in Stuart Weitzman’s Spring 2013 advertisements.

Kate’s beloved friend and fashion photographer, Mario Testino, was the one who suggested that she should take the job for this season.

About choosing Moss to star in his campaign, Mr Weitzman told New York Magazine: “He brought her up and I thought, well, I don’t remember seeing too many bad pictures of her, so yeah!”.
He also told at People magazine: “I don’t need to have in our ad campaign someone we’re making shoes for, but someone who can show off the product as beautifully as we hope it is”. I think he scored, don’t you?

Mr Weitzman went on praising Kate, saying that “When Testino wanted a pose, she knew exactly how to give it to him. We only had one retake out of six shoots. That’s not normal. It was amazing to me how super professional she is”.

We had no doubt.

But Ms. Moss herself was also pretty delighted working with them. “I had a great time shooting the Stuart Weitzman campaign and I’m so happy to be face of the brand this season. Working with Mario Testino is always fun and it was wonderful meeting Stuart on set”, she said.

Stuart Weitzman, whose much loved footwear label was launched in 1986, predicts that black and white colour combinations will be the ultimate trend for the next season. He also believes that closed-toe sandals will be a hit and women will continue to wear boots and booties throughout spring. “Also, we’ve got the message that you all love flats and you want them to look cool. You don’t want them to look orthopedic, and we’re putting as much design into flats as we’re putting into high heels”, he added. About the ads, he said that the high-profile campaigns, which began after the company was acquired by Jones Apparel Group in May 2010, are helping to attract a new generation of consumers.

As for the future, nobody knows whether the British supermodel will be used as the face of the brand for the next seasons or not, but rumour has it that Mr. Weitzman said he hopes she will be on board for another two or three seasons. I guess we would all love that, right?

The print and billboard advertisements are to be launched in early spring. Until then, take a look at a behind-the-scenes video of the shooting.
