The Gucci children’s collection for Fall/Winter 2013-2014 designed by Creative Director Frida Giannini was elegant, yet highly versatile and colorful, inspired from retro and adult dandy styles.
Natural and dusty colours prevailed, such as light blue, grey, beige, shades of green, navy blue, khaki and bordeaux, creating an earthly, cool and fashionable look. Hand-knitted wools, t-shirts and jersey sweatshirts combined with denims, macro-checked peacoats and padded jackets, complete the playful and classical trends. The out-door adventures and social activities are accompanied by soft and comfortable fabrics, as cotton and flannel with eco-fur finish, perfectly matched with loose-tapered pants. The collection, not only adopts the green-red-green stripe, as the iconic symbol of the House, but also presents outfits from leather, the signature material of Gucci. The masculine dynamic characteristics are dominant in vintage-inspired aviator bombers with lambswool collars, suede biker jumpers and shearling parkas.
Powdery shades, borrowed from the fifties, combined with vibrant nuances like pumpkin and malachite green, compose the colorful palette for the girls’ collection. A retro, yet modern twist is created by little coats, cape-like manteaux with leopard prints and furry collars. For glamorous appearances, accessories are essential.
How about everyday outfits? Casualwear is defined by flared t-shirts, tunics with airy ruffles or boyish oversize shirts and woolen check motifs, from mohair to alpaca. For more chic endeavours, dresses in tulle and velvet with polka dots and precious embroideries of degradé pearls made their appearance.
From 0 to 36 months, the Baby Line collection is enriched with warm and comfortable fabrics. For the little boys, check patterns alternated to pied-de-poule motifs and needlepoint embroideries of the iconic web stripe detail appear. For girls, pastel colours on silk, velvet and jersey stretch, offer the comfort and warmth needed, adding a hint of luxury. Finally, the Layette line proposes a-seven-day set, comprising seven bodysuits, one for every day. A truly generous and practical gift idea!
