AGENDA: 31 JANUARY_06 FEBRUARY

Text: Mary Giatra

As the first month of the new year is meeting its end, February comes to ease the cold and lead us to Spring. This cultural week is very powerful, filled up with lots of movies, new shows and music. So, what are you doing on the last 28 days of winter?

COSTA GAVRAS

The new movie of the great, Greek-born, filmmaker has already premiered and for the first time ever, the Athenian audience has the chance to attend a full retrospective on the work of the celebrated director. Besides the showing of  “The Chapter”, Gavras’ new project, this whole week is completely dedicated to one of the best representatives of International Political Cinema. This event, which is being held at the Greek Film Archive Foundation, includes 16 projects of the director’s filmography, an open conversation and a master-class by Costa Gavras himself.

BORIS EIFMAN: RODIN

A ballet show dedicated to the life and creative work of the great sculptor Auguste Rodin and his apprentice, lover and muse Camille Claudel, is being held at the Athens Concert Hall on February 1st, 2nd and 3rd. The famed Eifman Ballet of St. Petersburg has been offering great images showing “Rodin” around the world for the past two years and it has finally arrived in Greece. Don’t miss this great experience that lyrically presents the tragic nature of the artist’s genius and his mysteries of creation.

LISTEN TO EVERYTHING EVERYTHING

Everything Everything is the name of a British Band founded back in 2007. After six years of hard work and challenges, this band, with the very interesting sound that avoids every musical cliche, has just released its second album called “Arc”. The album’s hit single is called “Cough Cough” and has been named by NMA as one of the 50 Best Tracks of 2012.

Enjoy!
