Born in 1990 in Kosovo, Rita was one of the biggest breakthrough acts in the music industry last year. Two years ago, she became a member of Jay-Z’s Roc Nation and in 2012 she released her first personal album titled Ora with three number-one singles in the UK charts.
Growing up in Portobello Road has certainly influenced her style, which is a mixture of high street fashion, bright colors and avant-garde pieces. Rita has been inspired by great performers, such as Freddie Mercury and Jimi Hendrix, that led her to “love flamboyancy and glamour and elegance. I love that over-exaggerated style.” she told Harper’s Bazaar for the January 2013 issue.
Her current favorite fashion designer is Phillip Lim, but she never forgets her icons. She is a fan of Gwen Stefani, Alexander McQueen, Marilyn Monroe and Debbie Harry.
Rita was the guest blogger in vogue.com’s Today I’m wearing in August 2012 and you can check all her outfits here.
Coldplay recruited her as a supporting act in their UK tour and Rita told Bazaar that “Performing in front of 50,000 people was such a great confidence-booster. Me and Chris Martin (frontman of Coldplay) are similar on stage -we don’t do the same thing twice. It made me feel like I could take over the world”.

As for her future plans, she wants to do a collaboration with her favourite band, Mumford & Sons and a few weeks ago she released the video for her new single Radioactive, which will also be the name of her tour. Undoubtedly, it seems that 2013 will be an even better year for Rita.
