Text: Yiota Dendrinou
Every year we have to deal with a lot of questions of what a perfect Christmas gift constitutes of, thus we end up buying things which are unnecessary, forgetting that a simple gift might, sometimes, have a greater impact. Why, then, not share the music we love with our close ones this Christmas? From box sets to anniversary compilations, the variety is big and the choice lies with you.
Colette selection 2012
Colette selects the 10 best albums of 2012 for you, among them the indie album Visions by Grimes and the atmospheric Other Worlds by Taken by Trees, all included in a beautiful package decorated with sketches Mr. Men and Little Miss.
She & Him
One of my favorite duos She & Him, aka Zooey Deschanel and M. Ward, released last year the Christmas album A Very She & Him Christmas, which became a best-seller in Amazon.com. If you missed the chance to hear it, order it now and listen to hits like Baby, It’s Cold Outside and Blue Christmas.
The movie Les Miserables, starring Hugh Jackman, Anne Hathaway and other great actors is about to be released, so why not listen to the soundtrack of the musical “Les Miserables: The complete symphonic recording” and let yourself be carried away by the magic a little bit earlier?
This cover album was created in order to celebrate the 15 years of Tim Burton’s classic film The Nightmare before Christmas and always according to the creator’s unique style, Christmas is seen in a new light, more spooky and dark. Strictly for the fearless ones.

What’s more, if you get tired of listening, you can always read Keith Richards’ memoir, Life, which will certainly contain many rock ‘n’ roll moments. Plus, prefer the audio book edition, where Johnny Depp and Keith, himself, read parts of the book.
