This month’s US Vogue travels us back to 19th century France, as it has an amazing editorial with the stars of the musical Les Misérables and Ann Hathaway on the cover. The musical (in theaters in the US at December 25) directed by Tom Hooper has an A-list cast (Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe. Anne Hathaway, Amanda Seyfried, Eddie Redmayne, Samanda Barks, Sacha Baron Cohen, Helena Bonham Carter and Aaron Tveit) and a great soundtrack and makes us think about the nature of law, morality, anti-monarchism and the types of nature of love.
The film based on the novel by Victor Hugo (first published in 1862) tells the story of Jean Valjean, a former prisoner who becomes mayor of a town in France. Valjean agrees to take care of Cosette, the illegitimate daughter of Fantine, and must avoid being captured again by Javert, a police inspector.
