«One day I am going to find you the most perfect ruby in the world. » was the promise Richard Burton once made to the love of his life, Elizabeth Taylor.
He kept searching for four years until he found the superb, Puertas Ruby stone, at Van Cleef & and Arpels. Burton surprised Elizabeth Taylor when he gave her the 8.25 Puertas Ruby, diamond and yellow gold ring, as a Christmas gift in 1968. In a memoir of her life «My love affair with the jewelleries» Elizabeth Taylor recalled the moment when she opened the ring box, «I screamed, which probably echoed over the mountains, and Ι couldn’t stop screaming. Ι knew I was staring the most exquisite ruby anyone else has seen!»
And boy did she deserve it!
