“Exit Through the Gift Shop:A Banksy film” is a documentary film made by Banksy, who is a street art legend. This film shows the history of street art. It tells the story of a Thierry Guetta, an eccentric French owner of a small shop, that wants to create a film with famous street artists and he wishes Banksy to be part of it. The film features scenes with Banksy, Shephard Fairey, Invader, Monsieur Andre, Zeus and many of the world’s most renowned graffiti artists in action. After successfully chasing Banksy and recording him, Guetta tries his best to squeeze all recordings into a single tape. But the result is not good and Banksy wants to start the editing all over again from the beginning.
Although it’s been two years since the making, the film premiered in Greece last Thursday! For those who haven’t seen it before, here’s a good chance to watch a beautiful movie.
“Warhol repeated iconic images until they became meaningless, but there was still something iconic about them. Thierry really makes them meaningless”
