The second wave of the 84 year-old Japanese artist’s collection for Louis Vuitton has launched and Selfridges is celebrating it. With a pumpkin-shaped pop-up store and 24 shop windows with Kusama’s signature dots, the department store runs the biggest collaboration with a single artist in its history.
The star product is of course the Pumpkin Minaudière which costs 83,500 English pounds and numbers only five in the world. Hand-made by Louis Vuitton’s master craftsmen and formed out of black resin, metal and pure gold (!) many might say the price is justified. For those who think it’s outrageous, a closer look will convince you otherwise.
