Raf Simons’ work for the legendary Fashion House was exquisite. Cool, feminine, sensual, chic garments dedicated to women. As Simons stated, he loves minimalism and he expressed it through his collection which had a lot of references to the house founder’s work. Pleats, A-lines, perfect tailoring, big skirts in iridescent silk florals over simple, black body conscious tops. Classic in the most modern way possible.
Boxy silhouettes and pure white ruled Hussein Chalayan’s presentation yesterday at Paris. Light sportswear, big volumes and strong square lines accessorized with wide brimmed hats gave a summery essence to his clean cut collection.
The designer’s collection was inspired by the 1980’s. Tailored jackets and trousers, strong shoulders and black-and-white patterns were the basic elements of the runway show. Garments with little cut-outs and foldings gave a playful and youthful touch to his feminine collection.
MAISON MARTIN MARGIELA
Clean, pure and very cool was the spring/summer 2013 collection of Maison Martin Margiela. Big volumes, foldings, well-defined edges and dramatic lengths in black, grey , white and off-white colors created a simple yet powerful image as the models strutted down the runway. The garments looked wearable and easy while keeping the fashion-forward identity of the Fashion House.
